David Faithfull studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee, before living and working as an artist and designer in Copenhagen for 9 years. He held a research and lecturing position at the University of Dundee from 2020-2025. Faithfull currently lecturers at Edinburgh College of Art.

His practice involves a broad range of processes, from installation and site-interventions, to Artist’s Books, multiples and murals. Current projects include investigating alternative printmaking processes and materials, exploring seaweed, squid ink foraged berries and powdered rock and meteorite pigments. Other explorations include palindromic landscapes, environmental issues and alchemy as a contemporary transformative liminality.

He exhibits internationally and has work in collections including Tate Britain, the V&A and the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art . He was a board member of several prominent Scottish Arts organistions, including Edinburgh Printmakers, ASCUS (Science & Art) and the Society of Scottish Artists.
